John Washington

John Washington (John Augustine Washington V), ancestral nephew of President George Washington, recently appeared in The Discovery Channel's, "The Washington Monument: It Stands For All." You may still be able to see this in repeats or on tape, or elsewhere (more info when available).

If you're the kind of person who gets bored with documentaries, but really want to see JW, he can be seen at about 15 minutes into the show, then 17 minutes, then beginning at about 40 minutes 'til the end. [He's the one standing in front of the statue of George Washington.]

John has also starred or co-starred in 20 television series and movies, and recently guest-hosted NBC's Today Show Weekend coverage of the 200th Anniversary of George Washington's funeral at Mount Vernon.

John, the leader of the bands MMIT, and most recently No-1 (and a music writer/producer), has been affectionately nicknamed the "President of Pop" as a result of his ownership of PopMusic.com.

John was the first recording artist to go "platinum" on the internet, with over a million downloads of his music. Although John's music is not currently available for download, when it was available at PopMusic.com, about 85% of the website's 3 million visitors downloaded it.

John Washington, as current President of the George Washington Foundation, is helping create the Official George Washington website, opening later this year. He is also writing a book about George Washington as a teenager and young man.

Later this year, John will release a CD at PopMusic.com, which is expected to be the biggest selling CD ever sold exclusively on the internet, based on the popularity of his downloadable music.
